Lagotto Romagnolo

Personality

Meet the Lagotto Romagnolo: the only dog who can find hidden treasure in the woods and redecorate your flower bed in the same hour. This curly-coated truffle hunter may look like a living teddy bear, but behind those soulful eyes is a turbo-charged sniffer and a to-do list. Affectionate to the point of being clingy, they prefer to be involved in everything you’re doing—from grocery unloading to Zoom meetings (where they’ll demand to be the star).

They’re playful, intelligent, and prone to mischief if bored. Don’t give them a puzzle unless you want it solved and reordered by difficulty. Training is a breeze with positive methods—they love to please—but don’t skip brain games or they’ll start inventing their own (often involving shoes, mulch, or your socks).

Their coat? Hypoallergenic and soft, but needs upkeep. Their personality? A cross between Sherlock Holmes and a hyper toddler with a treasure map. If you're not laughing daily, you're not paying attention.

The Lagotto Romagnolo is highly affectionate and smart, thriving on both companionship and purpose. Naturally energetic and eager to learn, they excel in mentally stimulating tasks—especially when there’s sniffing involved. While they’re social and goofy, their alert nature makes them surprisingly good watchdogs. Hypoallergenic and low-shedding, they’re relatively easy to live with—if you can keep up with their need to do stuff. This breed wants to work, play, and maybe dig up your backyard in search of imaginary truffles.

A Lagotto Romagnolo dressed like a truffle-hunting explorer holds a mushroom in one paw and wears a brown fedora, scarf, and leather satchel with magnifying glass, posed adorably in a misty forest like a curly-coated canine Indiana Jones.
