Personality
The Border Terrier is like a wiry little hobbit on a mission: brave, loyal, and absolutely convinced they’re the main character in an action movie. Don’t let the ragamuffin coat and button eyes fool you—this dog was bred to bolt after foxes and still lives for the thrill of the chase (and the sound of a snack bag opening). Equal parts affectionate and independent, they love their people deeply but will also disappear under the couch for thirty minutes to investigate a rogue dust bunny. With a scrappy build, sharp mind, and “can do” attitude, they’re easy to train—if you can make the training seem like their idea. They’re surprisingly sturdy, great with kids, and down for just about anything, from agility courses to binge-watching documentaries (while casually chewing your favorite sock). Grooming is minimal; mischief is not.

Trait Table
The Border Terrier is a scruffy little dynamo with a heart full of loyalty and a nose for trouble (the fun kind). Equal parts adventurer and cuddle buddy, they’re smart, alert, and have just enough stubbornness to keep things interesting. Small in size but big in spirit, they thrive with active families and daily mental stimulation. And yes, they’ll absolutely chase squirrels with Olympic intensity.
